Moong Daal Halwa

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups moong daal soaked overnight or at least 7 hours

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1 cup ghee

  • 2 cups hot milk

  • 2 tsp cardamom powder

  • 1/8 cup Almonds

  • Pinch of saffron


Preparation Instructions:

  • Grind moong daal in a food processor without water. Consistency coarse.

  • In a non stick pot heat ghee. Add moong daal and cook on low heat till ghee separates and color is pinkish . Stir continuously to avoid lumps.

  • Then add milk, saffron and sugar. Cook till ghee separates. This halwa texture is grainy.

  • Serve hot. If it feels a bit dry add 1/4 cup milk.
